Note about a Canadian school
I decided to describe some observations about a Canadian school
In Canada, there is no concept of "School" as in post-Soviet countries. Here, there are three types: elementary, middle, and high school.
I didn’t understand what this meant at first, but then it was explained to me that in each, children study only for a certain period of time and then have to move on to the next. I won’t describe many details here, just a few moments.
There is an elementary school near the house, but it doesn't look like a standard American-Canadian school.
A standard one usually looks something like this, long and flat:
This one is more historical and made of brick (regular schools don't look like this):
With quite a large area
I highlighted in red everything that belongs to the school
The first thing that surprised me is that the school is also a kindergarten.
Students attend here until the 6th grade, but there's also a kindergarten, for which you have to pay
The second point is the schedule
That is, in the kindergarten here, they are only there in the mornings, until 11:30. In other kindergartens, children usually stay until 5 p.m.
In Canada, by the way, they are all paid - from $2000 a month
The school schedule involves all classes staying until 3:30 p.m.
There are long breaks (up to an hour) for lunch, and it’s assumed that the child brings food from home. There is no food provided at school.
Here’s an example of a schedule from Russia
For comparison: I remember having 3 lessons from grades 1 to 3, rarely 4. Then from 4th to 6th grade, there were 4 lessons, sometimes 5.
That is, by 11:30 to 13:00, you were already home in the Russian system.
And the most unusual thing is the presence of a playground on the school grounds.
Any children can use it, not just those who attend the school, as access is open
