How I got a Russian passport in Georgia
When I came to Georgia I thought about getting a second foreign passport, in Russia you can get a second passport without handing over the first
We arrived in Georgia in mid-October, at first there was no time for that, but closer to winter, I thought about getting an additional passport.
I searched a bit in immigrant chats, it turned out to be quite simple.
The only thing that bothered me was the long queue.
There is no full-fledged consulate of the Russian Federation in Georgia, but there is a certain section of interests at the Swiss embassy, roughly speaking, Russia rents a corner in the embassy for itself, and Switzerland acts as an intermediary between Georgia and Russia.
You register on the site and immediately get on the waiting list.
The most unpleasant thing is that while you are on this list, you need to confirm your entry every day at the same time. Plus, the site constantly changes your password and you need to go to it 30-40 minutes in advance, before confirmation, in order to be in the system at the right time.
Through the browser, you can find out your queue number, officially there is no this function, in general, an ugly service.
I even got myself a separate file where I followed my progress. Otherwise, you may think that you are not moving anywhere.
On December 19, I got in line, in March I received an appointment ticket for March 27.
On the appointed day, I went to Tbilisi, where I submitted a completed application form and gave $ 80 in cash, they took my photo.
It is interesting that, firstly, they do not require a military ID abroad, and secondly, they issue a biometric passport for 10 years without problems, although in Russia applications for such a passport are not accepted now.
After I registered in the application where you track your status.
After 25 days, the passport was ready, I will soon go to pick it up.
No feedback yet
