Gelati-Motsameta-Kutaisi
We went on a short walk through the Georgian mountains, from Gelati through Motsameta to Kutaisi.
It all starts from the ancient Gelati Monastery
Then you walk through the forest for a while and enjoy the beautiful views, along the way you can meet a lot of "Viewpoints" - this is the name of the places on the Openstreetmap map, from where a beautiful view opens
Medieval stone bridge, preserved in excellent condition, only slightly overgrown
Archaeological site, a sinkhole, from which cool air blows. We didn’t find it right away, we had to make our way through the bushes and thorns.
In general, in Georgia, when you do hiking, you almost always go alone, at least in our area. The local people are busy with other things.
Even one Georgian wrote to me in a chat how he admires visiting people, but he lives here and didn’t see anything much.
Also on the way we met an epic bridge, along which we had to go to the Motsamety monastery, everyone thought we could cross it or not, we did it, but it was a little scary.
Epic video :)
Then we visited the Motsamety monastery for the third time, we had been here several times before, a very beautiful place. Such a kind of temple is a fortress on a rock, and monks live on a nearby rock, you can’t go there.
From the tablets you can find out that the landscaping around the monastery was done according to a project with the Japanese, they apparently participated in money, they did it beautifully, but a lot of things are already in decline, since no one maintain the territory.
In general, after half a year of living in Georgia, we began to walk around the neighborhood more, especially now in the spring, when it is not very hot yet, and the winter rains and wind have ended.
But sometimes you have to work hard to make a good route with a minimum number of roads, locals don’t walk here.
